Fishery Management

A trophy fishery is engineered, not stocked-and-hoped. We start with an electrofishing survey of what your water already holds, then write a custom, data-driven plan to close the gap to the fishery you want.

01How we approach it

Most stocking programs skip the one step that decides the outcome: an honest assessment of what your water already holds. We start with an electrofishing survey, a standard, non-lethal method where fish are temporarily stunned, measured, weighed, and released, to read your size structure, body condition, predator-to-prey balance, recruitment, and any problem species.

From that diagnosis we write a custom management plan: stocking, forage base, habitat, water quality, harvest discipline, and a re-survey schedule. What goes in it depends on your water and what you want out of it. Moving a neglected pond toward quality bass runs several growing seasons, and we tell you that up front.

The survey and the plan are our work. Running that plan year after year is the job of our sister company, Lochow Ranch Pond & Lake Management, whose crews handle the stocking, the water chemistry, and the season-to-season management once the goals are set. It is one handoff inside one family of brands working to the same standard, and we make the introduction.

This expertise comes from a 20-year lineage: our team includes Texas A&M-trained wildlife and fisheries biologists, and we operate as part of the Lochow Ranch family of brands, the authority behind two decades of completed Texas fisheries.
